The story surrounding the 'Glee' actress has taken a turn for the worst.

According to reports, the search for Naya Rivera has now turned into a recovery mission, as Police on the case believe the 'Glee' star may have drowned at sea.

Yesterday, news broke that the 33-year-old was reported missing following a boat trip on a lake in Southern California. The rented pontoon boat was discovered by authorities, who found Naya's four-year-old son asleep and alone on the vessel after it failed to be returned back to shore on time.

Resuming the search for Rivera on Thursday. The Sheriff's Office announced that the search had turned into a "recovery mission". According to a statement from the Ventura County Sheriff's Office: "Investigators believe Rivera drowned in what appears to be a tragic accident.

"Approximately 50 sheriff’s personnel, along with a helicopter, boat crews, divers, and unmanned aerial vehicles searched the lake for five hours Wednesday evening, but Rivera could not be found.

"The entire shoreline and surface of the lake were thoroughly searched. Divers also searched underwater in the area where the boat had last been seen. However, there was no sign of Rivera.

Officials reported finding Rivera's purse and an adult life jacket on board the boat, and her car was found in the parking lot.

In relation to Naya's four-year-old son, Josey Dorsey, Police Captain Eric Buschow said: "He’s in good health. The family is going through a very traumatic time right now."
