It is one of the biggest and most successful book-to-film franchises of all time, but Miriam Margoyles is not particularly a fan of 'Harry Potter'.

The British-Australian actress played the role of Professor Sprout in two of the 'Harry Potter' films - 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets' and 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2' - making her recognisable to a new generation of film fans, despite working with people like Martin Scorsese in the past.

However, it seems that being recognised for what could be seen as a somewhat frivolous role does not sit well with her, and in a new interview the 82-year-old was somewhat dismissive of the films.

She told Vogue UK: "For me, ‘Harry Potter’ wasn’t important. I was very glad I got the part and I enjoyed being in it and meeting all the people, but it’s not Charles Dickens."

She added, however, that she did enjoy the fandom aspect of appearing in such films, saying: "People come up to me and say ‘I just love you’, and want to hug me. And that is dazzling."

Margoyles has made headlines in recent days thanks to the photoshoot that accompanied the Vogue interview, which you can see below:
