The idea of continuously rabbiting on about his family to the press, most recently regarding his plan to turn up "drunk" to the Betty Ford clinic in a bid to see Lindsay, is beginning to sit uneasily with Michael Lohan - for the first time in approximately eight years.

As with all withdrawal scenarios, there are momentary relapses, hence why Michael felt the need to issue a press release to say he wasn't going to talk to the press anymore. It reads:

"I want to make a public statement that I will not be commenting on anything relating to my daughter Lindsay, or anything my ex-wife Dina, or any 'sources' related to her, might say. No matter what accusations, lies or conjecture are disseminated to the public about me, for the sake of the ones I love and with hope of creating peace, I will not respond, in any way, to what is said or done, to me. For the sake of those I offended, I apologise and ask their forgiveness... So please refrain from calling or contacting me."

Michael's internal monologue continued: "No, please, don't call me. I asked you not to contact me *nods wildly*, and I realise that maybe difficult for you, 'cause the unattainable is so much more attractive, but I ask you to respect my wishes *shakes head*. No, please don't cry - stop pulling at your hair and running head first into the wall, it's not helping anybody. You won't get me to "respond in any way, to what is said or done to me", no matter how HORRIFIC it is (and it will be horrific, for Dina is a she-devil), I shall remain quiet, much like Jesus on the cross."

Forever the optimist, I give it a week at best.
