Whether 'Blackbird' made it on your Top 10 Films of 2022 or not, it's never nice to hear that someone is suffering from an illness.

'Riverdance' star Michael Flatley has revealed that he recently had surgery after being diagnosed with an 'aggressive form of cancer' over Christmas.

The 64-year-old, who lives mostly in Monte Carlo with wife Niamh and son Michael Jr., reportedly spent Christmas in Cork, as recent posts on Instagram attest to. His team shared the news via a statement.

“Dear friends, we have something personal to share," it read. "Michael Flatley has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. He has undergone surgery and is in the care of an excellent team of doctors.

"No further comments will be made at this time. We ask only for your prayers and well wishes. Thank you. 🙏🏻 Teamlord.”

It is not known what kind of cancer that Flatley is fighting, but in 2003 he was successfully treated for skin cancer after an eagle-eyed MTV viewer spotted what turned out to be a malignant melanoma during a TV interview.

He later said in his autobiography: "A scare like that makes you even more aware you need to live every moment while you can."

Get well soon, Michael!
