With the passing of Margaret Thatcher yesterday, aged 87, there has been numerous discussions errupting online over the life lead and controversial decisions made by the former British PM. Most of it negative, you'll probably have noticed. One person to come out and comment on her life in a more positive manner, however, is Hollywood actress Meryl Streep who starred as the Iron Lady herself in... The Iron Lady.
In an interview with The Wrap, the Oscar winning actress said: "Margaret Thatcher was a pioneer, willingly or unwillingly, for the role of women in politics... To have given women and girls around the world reason to supplant fantasies of being princesses with a different dream: the real-life option of leading their nation; this was groundbreaking and admirable... To have withstood the special hatred and ridicule, unprecedented in my opinion, levelled in our time at a public figure who was not a mass murderer; and to have managed to keep her convictions attached to fervent ideals and ideas - wrongheaded or misguided as we might see them now - without corruption - I see that as evidence of some kind of greatness, worthy for the argument of history to settle."

While Meryl took a more positive stance, other celebrities have had no qualms in airing their opinions. Morrisey is one such person, describing the former PM as "a terror without an atom of humanity" in his conversation with The Daily Beast. He also commented that it's "because of Thatcher, there will never again be another woman in power in British politics, and rather than opening that particular door for other women, she closed it."
