The zookeepers in Chicago's Lincoln Park zoo are either big history buffs or musical theatre enthusiasts.
When picking a name for the zoo's newest arrival, they decided to go with Alexander Camelton, in honour of US founding father and first treasury secretary Alexander Hamilton.
Hamilton's life was turned into a smash hit Broadway musical by writer and actor Lin-Manuel Miranda. The production opens in Chicago later this month, which may have been an influence on the camel's name.
Camel Alexander is a Bactrian camel, and is four weeks old. He joins four other Bactrian camels who currently reside in the zoo.
ABC 7 in Chicago shared some clips of Alexander, and Lincoln Park zoo have also been celebrating their new arrival on social media.
Alexander Camelton is growing fast! Almost a head taller than his aunt Indie when she's lying down :) #FromACurator pic.twitter.com/QTqCLtaa8m
