Finally, McDonald's is getting on the proper burger train. Too long have we been getting flat beef circles when we wanted thick juicy burgers and it looks like that day might finally be coming.

The new burgers, which have been developed with the help of chefs from Michelin-starred restaurants, are thought to be an attempt by the fast food chain to compete with the newer gourmet burger chains that have been popping up and gaining a lot of popularity around the world, such as In-N-Out, Shake Shack, Five Guys and Gourmet Burger Kitchen.

'The Signature Collection', as it's being dubbed, has three varieties of burger (The Classic [above], The BBQ [below] and The Spicy [below again]) which are all served in a brioche-style bun and made to order, which means fresh ingredients and flavours but also a bit of a wait as the thicker patties take longer to cook.

Hopefully they'll actually look like they're pictured and not like all the other regular disappointments.

The burgers are currently on a trial run in 28 restaurants in the UK with plans to roll them out nationwide (and presumably/hopefully to our mouths too) in summer 2016, so if you want to taste them, you'll have to get flying or rail and sailing.
