Dr Goong Chen of Texas A&M University may have solved the mystery of what happened to flight MH370, which disappeared last year, claiming 239 lives.

Many conspiracy theories have been touted online that even include alien abduction, but Dr. Chen's theory is based on statistical research and some computer simulations, which present evidence to back up his claims.

According to Chen's theory, the plane entered a nosedive somewhere over the Indian Ocean, and entered the water cleanly without breaking up, with the body and wings sinking rapidly, which would explain the lack of debris and the fact that they were never able to spot an oil spillage that might help them locate the wreckage.

The team researching the problem used used applied mathematics and computational fluid dynamics, as well as running a number of simulations on the RAAD Supercomputer, which revealed that the most likely scenario was the plane entered the water at a steep or vertical angle.

Chen states however, that until the wreckage is located, there's no way to confirm what he's simulated: "the true final moments of MH370 are likely to remain a mystery until someday when its black box is finally recovered and decoded. But forensics strongly supports that MH370 plunged into the ocean in a nosedive".
