Do you hate flying? Do you fancy a long, long, LOOOONG car journey from London to New York instead?

You're in luck. The head of the Russian Railways, Vladimir Yukinin, has unveiled a plan that will see massive, trans-continental superhighway that will effectively link Eurasia with the US.

The Trans-Eurasian Belt would see a motorway that would run across Europe and join up and run alongside the current Trans-Siberian Railway. The ambitious plan, according to engineers and science-types, would run into the trillions of dollars and cross the entire width of Russia and join up with the Autobahn in Europe and existing highways in the US.

The highway would cross the Bering Strait and join up with Alaska, which is where Sarah Palin lives. And, y'know, she says she can see Russia from her house.

The overall aim is to link Europe, Asia and the US continent together via a single highway that would see travellers crossing the globe in one car journey.

We did a little bit of maths and, according to our figures, it would take a total of 504 hours non-stop and an average speed of 60mph to travel from London to New York via Russia.

58 hours. No bathroom breaks. No stopping for fuel. No eating. FIVE HUNDRED AND FOUR HOURS. That's just under 21 days. A normal flight from London to New York would take you 7 hours.

Good luck with that, basically.
