Bord Gais are investigating the cause of a massive gas explosion in North inner city Dublin yesterday evening which left a 58-year old man in hospital.

The explosion occurred on Sullivan St. just after 6PM and destroyed much of the roof of the house itself as well as shattering glass as well.

It's been reported that a window frame from the house was thrown almost two streets away, due to the force of the explosion.

Houses opposite the explosion were also damaged and residents were evacuated until the scene was made safe.

Here's a Vine captured by user 'weapluiz' showing the clean-up.
