These things happen in threes... Next week, she'll be whipping her bits out on Instagram for the world to see. Oh.

Madonna has apologised for using a racial slur. She used the N word.

The 55-year-old insisted she isn't racist, and didn't mean to offend anyone when she posted a photograph of her 13-year-old son Rocco Ritchie, boxing with the caption, "No one messes with Dirty Soap! Mama said knock you out! #disni**a" on Friday (17.01.14).

In a statement to UsMagazine.com, the singer said: "I am sorry if I offended anyone with my use of the N word on Instagram. It was not meant as a racial slur.. I am not a racist... There's no way to defend the use of the word. It was all about intention.. It was used as a term of endearment toward my son, who is white. I appreciate that it's a provocative word and I apologise if it gave people the wrong impression. Forgive me."

Hey, at least she didn't use it when talking about David, or Mercy, so that's something... It's OK to use it with your white son, right?

Madonna issued the public "apology" after the incident attracted some backlash from her fans. She removed the original caption after a few minutes and instead opted to write: "Ok let me start this again #get off my d**k haters!"

Oh, that Madonna, she's so "controversial."
