Tis technically the season of goodwill to all men... But - as is all too true in many households - it's also a fraught and tense time of year, trying to keep everyone happy and invariably failing to keep anyone happy in the process.

News is circulating this morning that Madonna allegedly had to get a court order to force her 15-year-old son with director Guy Richie to fly home for Christmas. He had been reportedly spending time with Guy in London and refused to board the plane home to New York.

According to reports, Madonna was present in court yesterday at the hearing, presided over by Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Deborah Kaplan. Judge Kaplan ordered Rocco to return to the States, but Richie's representation, lawyer Eric Buckley, allegedly fought back, saying: "[Rocco] has expressed very clearly that he does not want to return to New York."

People magazine states: "Madonna attempted to respond before her lawyer Eleanor Alter calmed her, the newspaper reported. That's when Kaplan asked, 'Has he prevented the child from returning to the U.S.?' Buckley replied, 'Effectively, yes.' Kaplan, who said Rocco will receive a court-appointed attorney, addressed the singer at the hearing. 'I'm granting you all the relief you have requested,; the judge reportedly said, prompting Madonna to smile and nod. 'I'm directing the child to be returned to New York. If he wants to stay with his father, he must return to his mother'."

So, in other words, Rocco can return to stay with his father, but only if he comes home to mum for Christmas. Mare.

The 47-year-old director and the singer divorced back in 2008.
