America's Got Talent test audience prefer Louis Walsh to Cheryl Cole. And it has absolutely nothing to do him being the living embodiment of their mind's eye leprechaun.

"Everyone presumes Cheryl will get offered the job because she looks the part. She's gorgeous and extremely camera friendly ('cause they're two entirely separate things) and now has the working relationship with Will I Am which will help her break through in the States. But during test screenings they did struggle with her (waayy aaayye!) accent. They absolutely loved Louis though. Anything Irish they adore and they think he is a right character who would work really well. It might surprise a few people over here that they would consider Louis over Cheryl, but there is a huge Irish community. They can relate to Louis more than Cheryl. They saw her as another pretty pop girl which they have plenty of their own already. They don’t really know her back story yet, it's not like in the UK where she has grown to become the nation's sweetheart. They won't announce the presenters until nearer the time, but Louis is well ahead in the race to be the favourite to win the seat."

Yeah, but would they like him in smug, desk pounding, desperate Jedward peddling, wild-eyed with barely bridled passion when dealing with O'Leary mode? Of course they would. He's Irish.
