The Mean Girls star (cause that's how long ago she was in anything of note) was sentenced in April to serve time for violating her probation on a 2007 charge for driving under the influence. She was also ordered to complete 480 hours of community service after the actress was accused of stealing a necklace from a California jewellery store in January.

Lohan turned herself over to authorities at Lynwood Jail in Los Angeles around 5am local time yesterday morning, but she was allowed to return to her Venice, California home within the hour to serve her time under house arrest. That'll learn her...

According to Los Angeles Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore, it's all thanks to overcrowding and Lindsay is "a non-violent offender, making her eligible for house arrest." She's been fitted with one of those ankle accessories she's been sporting of late and is "now confined to the interior premises of her home at all times."

Good news for her stalker, anyway.
