Can we just say Lindsay Lohan is a raging kleptomaniac and be done with it.
If you require more details, last week Lindsay was at a friend's all-nighter house party in the Hollywood Hills where jewellery worth $100k was stolen. Naturally enough, Lindsay was questioned by police. She then legged it from LA to New York a day later.
At the time, "close friend and business associate", Claus Hjelmbak said: "The trip to New York City had been planned for a while and she will be having several work meetings and spending time with her family. There was no escaping anything."
Sources connected to the investigation also said: "Lindsay isn't a suspect and was cooperative with cops during the brief time she was questioned. The notion that Lindsay is fleeing Los Angeles is just ridiculous. Lindsay can't go anywhere without being swarmed by photographers."
Well, now it seems Lindsay and her assistant Gavin Doyle are in fact official suspects.
Sam Magid, the friend who hosted the house party, called the Los Angeles Police Department a week ago to report a jewellery theft and although he has now tried to recant his allegation, the police are said to have independent witnesses who can prove Lindsay and Gavin are in fact the thieves.
So why did Sam Magid call the police to "recant his allegation?" Well, Michael Lohan just had to get himself involved. According to TMZ, Michael paid Sam a visit: "After personally speaking with the homeowner, there was NOTHING stolen from his home… Lindsay has no involvement and the owner has told the cops that."
Perhaps Michael should also don his muscle top to pay everyone who attended the party a personal house call, 'cause it seems Lindsay's fellow party goers have a slightly different version of events.
Yesterday (27.08.12) the LAPD contacted Lindsay's lawyer and asked to interview the two suspects but their request was denied.
