After a little less than 12 months of marriage, and nearly 10 years of dating, Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus have split up.

In a statement released to media last night, the news was confirmed and added that "ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers."

By all accounts, the news isn't a shock to anyone in their circles as Cyrus was seen in Italy with Kaitlynn Carter, who  herself had recently with split with Brody Jenner. According to a source who told ET, Carter and Cyrus were getting physically with each other and "were not trying to hide it at all. There were other people sitting by the pool."

Cyrus and Hemsworth originally met in 2009 on the set of 'The Last Song', and were dating shortly thereafter. Since then, they've had an on-again / off-again relationship, but eventually tied the knot in December of last year at their home in Tennessee.

Liam Hemsworth, meanwhile, returned to Australia and was spotted surfing with his brothers and generally keeping a low-profile following the announcement.

So, there you have it, folks. Another celebrity romance dead and gone.
