Westlife's resident spokesperson, Kian Egan, has become a father. His wife, Jodi Albert (used to be in Hollyoaks / Wonderland), has given birth to a boy they've named Koa ("a traditional Hawaiian name, meaning brave and fearless"). He's something of an early Christmas present being two weeks premature.

Kian took to Twitter last night to say: "Out little baby boy 'Koa' was born today at 6.10 pm. Jodi Albert is an amazing woman. Love them both so much. Both doing amazing, so proud. X", while bandmate Mark Feehily posted: "Congratulations to my great friends Kian & Jodi on the birth of their first child Koa,a bouncing baby boy! Yey!" Kian later added: "Wow thanks guys. Amazing to see our little boy Koa is trending in the Uk! And he's only a few hrs old!!!"

In a recent interview, Kian said: "I honestly can't wait for Jodi to give birth. I want to do everything - nappies, feeds, whatever Jodi needs." That's nice. But between that and taking part as a mentor in RTE's imminent version of The Voice, that promise might get a bit tricky. That and Shane and Nicky may not have filled him in on that green substance newborns produce with aplomb.

Congratulations Jodi and Kian, welcome to parenthood!
