Justin Timberlake's aunt has been arrested for allegedly stealing money from his mother and stepfather.

Trousersnake's aunt, Jane Harless, has been taken into police custody in Shelby County, Tennessee, after being accused of running a cheque forging scheme that saw her steal $64,000 from Justin's mother Lynn and her husband Paul Harless, between 2011 and 2013. A law enforcement source told TMZ that they believe Jane, who is Paul's sister, was writing cheques to herself and forging Paul's signature. Jane is being charged with 121 counts of forgery, four counts of identity theft and two counts of property theft.

Police have unearthed evidence that Jane forged more than 100 cheques over the past two years. Apparently warning lights started flashing when members of the family started seeing money missing from accounts, according to police. 'Some of the family members noticed some discrepancies' the local sheriff told reporters, 'and then it was sort of easy from that point to sort of see exactly what happened.'

Paul, who married Justin's mother when the singer was five, is a minority owner of the professional basketball team the Memphis Grizzlies and is also a partner in the 32-year-old star's $16 million golf course, Mirimichi, in Millington, Tennessee.

Justin previously credited his stepfather for helping him to win the heart of his wife Jessica Biel at the beginning of their relationship.

He said: 'I did it the old fashioned way -- by telephone. That's something I learned from both my stepdad and my grandfather -- that there is a thing called chivalry and it doesn't have to die with the birth of the Internet. The way I see it, if you're asking a girl out on a date, it's only right to do it in a way that she can hear your voice. I had to be pretty persistent in order to get her to say yes. But I have a fair amount of tenacity and if I want something I stick to it. And in the end she agreed.'
