Phoenix and Mara are known for keeping their personal life private.
Neither have officially announced the birth of their firstborn.
They also never confirmed the pregnancy in the first place.
News that the baby was on the way came about in May when Mara's bump was snapped.
Baby River is said to already be a month old.
Joaquin's brother River, who he is named after, passed away in 1993 after starring in such films as 'Stand By Me', 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade' and 'My Own Private Idaho.'
Joaquin and Rooney first met on the set of 'Her' in 2013.
They started dating in 2016 after reuniting in the film 'Mary Magdalene' and are now engaged.
