You've got to hand it to the individuals behind America's public service advertisements - nubile young ladies with milk moustaches and now Jessica Alba bound in gaffer tape. That's the stuff of inspiration.

The mother of one (I don't like to talk about it) has appeared in an ad, aimed to "encourage Americans to vote in the forthcoming presidential election", in which she's "gagged with black tape across her mouth next to the words 'Only You Can Silence Yourself'." It might also interest you to know that she appears to be topless and wearing the tape as some kind've strappy number.

The actress said: "If you don't register and vote and make a difference, and hopefully change the bad things that are happening in our country, you are essentially just binding and muzzling yourself... We sign up for MySpace pages and Facebook pages, and download music off the internet. The least people can do is register to vote online, actually making a difference in their world, not just making their lives a little bit cooler. I think it is important for young people to be aware of the need we have in this country to get them more active politically."

Why would anyone bother voting when you get treated to billboards of Alba in bondage if you don't?! That just doesn't make sense. Now, if there was a promise of some raunchy eye fodder flashing up on screen after you register to vote online - THAT would be an incentive.
