'K, you guys, let's overlook the Panorama special that aired last night, which highlighted the regime of Ilham Aliyev (president of Azerbaijan) and how his family are basically the Kardashians but with slightly more sinister connections (in short, Armenia have pulled out of the contest this year  as they're basically petrified; flats near where the purpose built Eurovision venue have been bulldozed with no provisions of compensation for the residents; if anyone tries to satirise Aliyev or his family, they generally wind up in prison; the interval act will be Aliyev's son-in-law), let's instead focus on something positively "Jepic" - whoooop!

It's that time of the year again, when Jedward strap two small planets to their shoulders, dip themselves in glitter and glee, and then pogo about the Eurovision stage (here they are frolicking betwixt waterfalls during rehearsals) all in the name of Ireland.

Our music editor penned a few questions for the Grimes Twins and this is what they had to say by way of response (keep the volume down, they're louder than usual). Some of the topics discussed include John's thoughts on how he could've sold more records for The Beatles; the perils of toilet bound mic packs courtesy of Edward - who also learned from last year's Eurovision that quite a large percentage of the planet don't speak English; and how they feel they're "eeekally good at dancing..."

The latter is particularly welcomed news, as it'll be down to Edward to provide the moves 'cause it looks like John is intent on taking over the music world with four chords and two strums.

Regarding tonight's Eurovision semi-final featuring Jedward (8.00pm, RTE2), I might tweet along if this pesky cold doesn't render me unconcious in the meantime.
