It's bound to happen to us all, especially in this age of oversharing: one day, our kids will grow up, find something embarrassing we've said or done on the internet, and use it against us.

Of course, if you're someone famous like James Van Der Beek, aka Dawson Leery from 'Dawson's Creek', those moments are much easier to find.

Especially the actor and dad-of-six's famous 'crying face' meme, which has haunted him for many years - and now, his own child is using it against him.

He told People that his 12-year-old daughter Olivia had wasted no time in finding the famous meme. For some online learning, we got [the kids] iPads and they immediately discovered memes," he said. "So it started, my eldest sent me a meme of myself."

When he responded with another meme of himself dancing, "she immediately hit me with the cry face. I thought, 'That's aggressive.'"

Despite the meme's enduring popularity - even 24 years after the show first aired - Van Der Beek is not perturbed by being remembered primarily for his crying face.

"I love it. It's my favorite thing about the whole show," he said at the 'Dawson's Creek' 20th anniversary reunion in 2018. "It's hilarious to me that you can work for six years on a show. . . and it gets boiled down to three seconds. It's a perfect way-of-the-internet."

Here's a reminder of the scene that spawned it, in case you need it...
