It's official we are now allowed text, call or take selfies galore on board a flight, as the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) have deemed it safe to use mobile phones on airplanes, even during take-off and landing.

They gave airlines across Europe the all clear following an in-depth safety assessment, although they have said it will be up to individual airlines if they want to permit it or not. It's not just phones either, it relates to all 'portable electronic devices' (PEDs), which include smartphones, tablets, e-readers, MP3 players and laptops.'

You needn't worry about having to listen to long-winded telephone conversations at 35,000 feet though, as mobile phone masts cannot connect to signals that high up. Although if this becomes a thing, perhaps they will find a way around that. We know nowt about the engineering involved to do that, but we're sure someone will think of something.

We are just glad we don't have to have the lives of a plane full of people on our hands anymore.

Phew.
