There's fresh cause for celebration in the extended Jackson family today as Janet Jackson has given birth to her first child, a son named Eissa.

The 50-year-old singer and her husband Wissam Al Mana welcomed Eissa yesterday, according to a rep for the pair.

"Janet had a stress-free healthy delivery and is resting comfortably," the brief statement said.

Jackson married Qatari businessman Al Mana in 2012, and rumours about her pregnancy began last year when the singer postponed her world tour amidst rumours around her health.

Jackson was quick to respond at the time, saying in a video message on Twitter that "there actually has been a sudden change. My husband and I are planning our family, so I’m going to have to delay the tour."

In October she revealed her baby bump in People magazine, saying "We thank God for our blessing".
