We love Roadhouse as much as the next guy, unless the next guy is in charge of what to show Police Academy recruits for training purposes, it turns out.

We know what you're thinking, they already have a series of movies made exclusively about life at a Police Academy that could serve as a great training video, but they seem reluctant to use it for some reason.

According to the New York Post, the cops are being shown Roadhouse to teach them how to be nice when the situation calls for it, and to keep a cool head when things start to get heated.

The reason for this multimedia element to the police training program for the NYPD is that it seems the previous material was a bit too boring, and had some cops catching a few winks in their lectures.

According to what The Post found out, "the use of Road House as a training tool was revealed after The Post exclusively reported that the lecture portions of the sessions were so boring that many cops have been falling asleep in their seats. Cops also [said] that they were told to 'take a step back, close your eyes and take a deep breath' when dealing with angry people, despite the potential danger in that advice".

Solid life advice from Swayze via the NYPD, but as pointed out, it might not be wise for a cop to close their eyes in a dangerous situation.
