We've always f***ing said so.

The results of a study from Keele University look to be very promising for those who like to litter their speech with words that one might not consider the Queen's English. Basically, if you're a fan of cursing, we've got good news.

Speaking to Men's Fitness, Keele’s Richard Stephens, Ph.D said that swearing was "an emotion, so it comes more easily— people are 'better' at it— when aroused". In their study, they found that people who got riled up playing a video game cursed more frequently than those who were calmer, but also that subjects who cursed were also able to keep their hands in a bucket of ice for longer.

While that's not exactly conclusive proof, it does show, argues Stephens, that there's some logic behind all the swearing "It starts to explain why we swear. It gives us a release", which has plenty of benefits, as well as increasing our pain threshold.

So, let's get started.
