If you've got a Dropbox account, then it might be time to change your password after hackers claimed they'd gotten access to the details of at least 7,000,000 users.
After Snapchat was apparently hacked at the weekend, Dropbox looks to be the next victim of a large scale hack as a post on reddit claimed that the data of up to 7,000,000 users had been leaked.
The post contained links to four Pastebin files where a few hundred usernames and details had been posted as a "teaser", and if people wanted more, they'd have to hand over some bitcoin to get their hands on the rest.
For their part, Dropbox are denying that they have been hacked and have released a statement to The Next Web, stating that they were aware of the situation: "These usernames and passwords were unfortunately stolen from other services and used in attempts to log in to Dropbox accounts. We’d previously detected these attacks and the vast majority of the passwords posted have been expired for some time now. All other remaining passwords have been expired as well."
Still, better safe than sorry, so if you have a Dropbox account you might as well change your password, no harm.
