Two of Ireland's best MMA fighters have been confirmed to join the cast for the new season of his US TV show The Ultimate Fighter. Cathal Pendred and Chris Fields, both teammates at Dublin-based fight camp SBG Ireland, will share a house with 14 other up n' coming fighters in Las Vegas with one Light Heavyweight (205lbs) and one Middleweight (185lbs) defeating all comers to be named champion and guaranteeing themselves a lucrative UFC contract.

Pendred and Fields are two of Ireland's best known MMA fighters. Pendred is the former Cage Warriors Welterweight champion, recently relinquishing his title to embark on his maiden UFC voyage, while Chris 'The Killing' Fields is himself a former Cage Warriors Middleweight titleholder.

The coaches for the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter will be UFC legend BJ Penn, one of only two men to hold titles in two separate weight classes, and former Lightweight champion Frankie Edgar. Both teams have assembled a crack squad of assistant coaches, affording all of the athletes on the show an invaluable level of expertise with which to expand their MMA game.  Both Fields and Pendred have been confirmed to be part of BJ Penn's team.

Filming for this season of The Ultimate Fighter has long since wrapped but don't expect any details to leak in advance of the finale as each and every fighter is bound by strict gagging rules prohibiting them from giving anything away but, having seen plenty of both Pendred and Fields in the case, we can say with some degree of confidence that we reckon they'll do pretty well.

The show will be broadcast in the US on Fox Sports 1 to a weekly audience in its millions and will also be available via your digital TV package a bit closer to home. The show will debut next month with the live finale, where a Light Heavyweight and Middleweight Champion will be crowned, on July 6th in Las Vegas. Until then, check out the two below promo videos which should serve to whet your appetite.
