If you've got a dog - even if it is an outdoors dog - tonight might be the night to bring them in as Hurricane Ophelia is about to hit Ireland with a bang.

Met Eireann has issued a red wind warning for Wexford, Galway, Mayo, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick and Waterford and an orange wind warning for the remainder of the country, with structural damage expected to hit those parts of the country as Ophelia heads towards Ireland.

Dogs Trust Ireland issued an advisory over Facebook earlier today, reminding owners to "ensure your dog's microchip details are up to date now and they are wearing a collar and ID tag just in case they manage to escape."
