What kind of man tries to punch a horse? A 45 year old footballer supporter from Newcastle, that's who.

You might remember this story from April of this year when a group of idiot football fans tried to fight another group of idiot football fans due to the fact that the come from cities that are separated by about 15 miles, strong reasoning. We then reported on it last month when we heared he was going to be sentenced.

Chief among the idiots is this guy.

This is Barry Rogerson. He is an unemployed factory worker from Newcastle. Barry is married to Teresa and is a father to one lucky child. In his spare time Barry likes to attend football matches, enjoy an odd pint of or two, and occasionally have some good natured 'banter' with opposing fans….oh ya, he likes to fight horses as well.

In the video below we see our hero Barry gamely challenge this brute of a horse. Why is he wearing that scarf over his face you ask? He had a toothache of course. Everyone knows the best remedy for molar pain is to cover your entire face with a scarf and go 12 rounds with the animal kingdom's best.

Fortunately for humanity as a whole, nobody on the entire earth believed Barry's toothache hokum and a judge saw fit to sentence him to a year behind bars. He was also banned from entering any football ground for six years. Good enough for him.

It's always good to see people who like to fight and brawl in the street sentenced to time behind bars. What's slightly strange is that, as far as we can find out, Barry has no prior convictions. He didn’t actually hospitalise or kill anybody, 12 months in prison seems like an incredibly harsh sentence.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy he got the sentence he did. I just wonder what the sentence would have been if the creature he tried to hit wasn’t in fact a horse named Bud, but say, a Sunderland fan called Derek?

Proof, if it were needed, that we prefer animals over humans.

In case anybody was worried, Bud made a full recovery and was back to work the next day after, and this is the best part, messages of support from thousands of well wishers. People are weird.
