Stephen Hawking knows the pain that the One Directioners out there are feeling in the wake of Zayn quitting the band, but he has some good news for them to soften the blow.

Sure they might be sad and mourning the loss over the last few weeks, but if they decided to turn their attention to the field of theoretical physics, they may well find some solace.

Appearing via the medium of a hologram at Sydney Opera House over the weekend, the world renowned physicist advised "heartbroken young girls to pay attention to the study of theoretical physics. Because one day there will be proof of multiple universes. It would not be beyond the realms of possibility that somewhere outside of our own universe lies another different universe, and in that universe Zayn is still in One Direction."

Hawking covered a broad range of topics on the night as he fielded questions on the recent movie about his life (and was very complimentary about Eddie Redmayne's performance, stating "it was as close as I’ll ever get to travelling back in time") as well as talking about "the greenhouse effect, nuclear weapons and genetic engineering", according to The Guardian.
