We asked you, our entertainment.ie readers, what were your favourite movies, TV series and Irish gigs of the year and now we’ve tallied up the final results.

Regarding movies, it probably shouldn’t come as too big a surprise that after the success that superhero movies had this year, they take two of the coveted top three spots.

While the emotional final chapter for Wolverine, Logan, took the top spot, war epic Dunkirk and Marvel comedy Thor: Ragnarok were neck-to-neck for a good while before the former beat the latter by a single percentage.

1. Logan – 20%

2. Dunkirk – 12%

3. Thor: Ragnarok – 11%

4. Wonder Woman – 8%

5. La La Land / Blade Runner 2049 – 7%

It was a big year for television between HBO’s offerings, Netflix series and female-led dramas. It shouldn’t be too big a surprise which show came up on top – Game of Thrones with a whopping 35% of the vote – but it’s been really interesting to see The Handmaid’s Tale beat out Big Little Lies for the number 2 spot.

Stranger Things also made the top 3 while Cillian Murphy starrer Peaky Blinders was the fifth most popular show.

1. Game of Thrones – 35%

2. The Handmaid’s Tale – 14%

3. Stranger Things – 9%

4. Big Little Lies – 8%

5. Peaky Blinders – 6%
