Sponsored tweets from either celebrities or sports stars is big business.

A recent list published online detailed the staggering prices athletes are charging brands and companies to promote their wares on Twitter. The advertising agency Opendorse worked out how much top sports personalities charge for putting 140 characters together.

As you'd expect, Cristiano Ronaldo's price-tag is the highest - a whopping €230,000 per tweet. It's no surprise either as Ronaldo has the largest amount of followers on the list.

Second on the list is LeBron James, who charges €125,000 a tweet to promote your brand. Further down the list, Gareth Bale, Floyd Mayweather, Cesc Fabregas and Dwight Howard charge in and around the €30,000 range for a sponsored tweet.

Rory McIlroy, meanwhile, offers a glowing tweet for the sum of a little under €13,000 to his 2,500,000 followers. Maria Sharapova, on the other hand, charges €8,126 to her 1.7 million followers. At the very bottom of the list was Jordan Speith, who's said to charge just €2,599 for a sponsored tweet to his 492,000 followers.

Nice work if you can get it, eh?
