With the news that the official jersey for Japan has sold out following their sensational win on Saturday, we think it's safe to say that Rugby World Cup fever has officially taken hold.

And so with that, and these scenes of the Ireland team at their school boy best during their welcoming ceremony last night, we decided to go all J.K. Rowling on the Irish team and sorted into houses at Hogwarts (because that's the first thing that came to mind when we saw them in those hats).

As a primer, and so people don't get infuriated or offended when their favourites end up in Slytherin or any house which is deemed 'undesirable', we're using Rowling's official word on what it means to be in each house to place them.

For example, Gryffindor values bravery, daring, nerve, and chivalry while Slytherin values ambition, cunning and resourcefulness, none of which are bad traits to have at all.

Ravenclaw values intelligence, knowledge and wit while Hufflepuff values hard work, dedication, patience, loyalty, and fair play which are some of the best qualities to have out on the pitch.

And because they all made it to England, we're assuming there isn't a squib amongst them. Armed with that, behold your Irish rugby team as seen through the eyes of the wizarding world and our very own Sorting Hat.

Gryffindor
We all know that everyone automatically assumes that Gryffindor is the best but just because they're not here doesn't mean they don't have admirable traits. That said, the following men all possess what most definitely makes up a Gryffindor, and that's why Tommy Bowe, Iain Henderson, Chris Henry, Robbie Henshaw, Sean O'Brien, Paul O'Connell and Richardt Strauss would all be fighting for Harry's team come Quidditch time.

Ravenclaw
Intelligence, knowledge and wit? Rory Best, Darren Cave, Luke Fitzgerald, Jared Payne, Eoin Reddan, Mike Ross and Johnny Sexton have and play with it in spades.

Slytherin
Ambition and resourcefulness are two things no successful team could be without, and we think you'd be hard pushed to say that Sean Cronin, Tadhg Furlong, Cian Healy, Rob Kearney, Ian Madigan, Peter O'Mahony, Donnacha Ryan and Simon Zebo weren't the most resourceful on the pitch.

Hufflepuff
Hard work, dedication, patience, loyalty and fair play are things that all international players should aspire to have and out of the Irish squad, it's Keith Earls, Jamie Heaslip, Paddy Jackson, Dave Kearney, Jack McGrath, Jordi Murphy, Conor Murray, Devin Toner and Nathan White who display to the fullest.

And obviously Joe Schmidt is Dumbledore.
