Temperatures are set to get as high as 28°C today as Met Éireann tells us to expect the best day of the year so far.

The good folks at Met Eireann spend a lot of their year breaking bad news to the population, warning us about terrible storms, horrible rain or some sort of apocalyptic opening of the heavens that will leave us all trading our cars in for boats. However, today they get to give us some rare good news: we can expect seriously hot temperatures.

They've even had to issue a proper warning and everything, noting that Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Offaly, Westmeath, Meath, Galway, Leitrim, Roscommon, Clare, Limerick and Tipperary can all expect to get highs of between 26°C and 28°C. In case you don't believe them, they even supplied a rainfall radar as evidence. Look, there's no rain on it!

Of course, we have to remind you all to get the sunblock out today and make sure that you don't get burned if you're spending your lunch hour in the sun or heading out in the garden to catch a few rays.
