It's a very dangerous time over in California at the moment as the US state is in the grips of terrifying wildfire. It has already become the most destructive in the state's history and the joint deadliest.

Thousands have had to flee their homes and many have returned to find they are not their anymore, including Hollywood celebs Gerard Butler, Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke.

Butler shared footage of his house and truck burned to the ground in Malibu, along with the message: "Returned to my house in Malibu after evacuating," he wrote.

"Heartbreaking time across California. Inspired as ever by the courage, spirit and sacrifice of firefighters. Thank you @LosAngelesFireDepartment.

Miley Cyrus also tweeted saying: "My animals and LOVE OF MY LIFE made it out safely & that's all that matters right now. My house no longer stands but the memories shared with family & friends stand strong."

'Fair City' star Victor Burke, who plays Wayne Molloy in the soap, also revealed to RTÉ over the weekend that his house has been destroyed in the flames:

While Robin Thicke's home was also consumed with the flames, he posted the below message in Instagram:
