We'd imagine that every month being George Clooney is a pretty good month but even by his standards, June has been exceptionally good to him.

At the beginning of the month the 56 year old became a father for the first time when wife, Amal gave birth to twins, Ella and Alexander.

The couple's statement at the time joked that George was sedated and should wake up in a few days after the ordeal. Well he may need to be put under again after news broke yesterday that the tequila company that the Oscar winner co-founded has been sold for $1bn.

Clooney founded 'Casamigos' four years ago with Cindy Crawford's husband Rande Gerber and property developer Mike Meldman. The company quickly became the fastest growing super-premium tequila brand in the US and has now been purchased by Diageo, the company behind Smirnoff, Johnnie Walker and of course, Guinness.

Diageo, the world's biggest spirits maker, will pay $700m up front for the company and will follow it up with a further $300m based on Casamigos' performance over the next decade.

“If you asked us four years ago if we had a $1bn company, I don’t think we would have said yes,” Clooney said in a statement. “This reflects Diageo’s belief in our company and our belief in Diageo. But we’re not going anywhere. We’ll still be very much a part of Casamigos. Starting with a shot tonight. Maybe two.”
