*UPDATED to Include Photos and Arrest Video: 15.53*

George Clooney has been arrested for protesting. Not quite hurling a mobile phone through a law firm's window, but it's gossip all the same.

The Washington Post reports: "George Clooney and several of his activist colleagues (including his father, Nick) were arrested and taken away in handcuffs outside the Sudan embassy on Massachusetts Avenue on this morning after three verbal warnings."

And thaaaaaaaaaaat's all the information that's doing the rounds at the minute.

UPDATED 15.07: Hang on, www.wusa9.com have more details regarding the reason behind the protest: "The protesters accuse Sudan's president, Omar al-Bashir, of provoking a humanitarian crisis and blocking food and aid from entering the Nuba Mountains in the county's border region, with South Sudan Clooney said he hopes to draw more attention to the issue and is impressed with President Obama's personal engagement on it. The actor also said that if action is not taken in the next three to four months 'we're going to have a real humanitarian disaster.' Clooney was joined by his father, Nick, and Democratic U.S. Rep. Jim Moran of Virginia, among others, as he walked to the protest site. The group held a sign that read: "Sudan: Stop Weapons of Mass Starvation'."

UPDATED 15.15: CNN reports that "On Wednesday, Clooney testified before Congress about 'a campaign of murder" under way in Sudan, where villagers run for the hills to hide from bombings on a daily basis. 'What you see is a constant drip of fear,' Clooney said, a day after returning from a trip in which he and a small team of fellow activists managed to enter one of the most devastated areas, the Nuba Mountains in South Kordofan. 'We found children filled with shrapnel, including a 9-year-old boy who had both of his hands blown off,' Clooney told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Clooney said the attacks are being orchestrated by Sudan's government, led by President Omar al-Bashir, government official Ahmad Harun and Defense Minister Abdelrahim Mohamed Hussein - the same three men, he said, who previously orchestrated long-documented attacks in Darfur."

UPDATED 15.17: TMZ, how are bound to focus more on George Clooney in hand cuffs *drools* have this from his publicist Stan Rosenfield: "'They were protesting the violence committed by the government of Sudan on its own innocent men, women and children. They were demanding they allow humanitarian aid into the country before it becomes the largest humanitarian crisis in the world.' Sources connected with George tell us he feels good about the arrest because it puts the spotlight on the crisis."
