Dublin Fire Brigade have been battling gorse fires on Howth Head since yesterday evening in an unfortunate consequence of our seemingly perfect summer weather, the effects of which can be seen across the capital this morning.
Fires broke out yesterday evening and were dealt with but apparently rekindled this morning, with six units of the fire brigade currently on the scene. No homes are currently at risk as the fires are reportedly on the southern side of the peninsula. Twitter users have in the meanwhile been snapping away, taking some stunning if slightly unsettling photos of the Howth Head 'volcano'.
