Wow. I don't remember anything like that appearing in the Jackie magazine I used to read as a childer...

It was reported on Monday back that Rihanna was obviously outraged by the headline of an article that appeared in a Dutch teen magazine. The magazine's editor-in-chief, Eva Hoeke, issued a somewhat flippant apology saying the "title of the article was intended as a joke", " the author meant no harm" and "there was no malice behind it", but Rihanna wasn't accepting that. In fact, she was so outraged she used the word "abasement" in her retort. I'd wager that's the first time said word has appeared on Twitter.

Given the article made reference to her "porn heels" and "ghetto ass", as well as saying "Rihanna, the good girl gone bad, is the ultimate niggabitch and displays that gladly," it wasn't exactly complimentary. And that's a gross understatement.

As it turns out,  and given Rihanna's response (in a addition to what's printed here, she also said: "There are 1000's of Dutch girls who would love to be recognised for their contributions to your country, [and] you could have given them an article. Instead, u paid to print one degrading an entire race! That's your contribution to this world! To encourage segregation, to mislead the future leaders to act in the past!"), Hoeke's apology of "It slipped through my... fingers. Stupid, painful and sucks for all concerned," was deemed insufficient. So she's resigned.

In a statement released yesterday, Hoke said: "I realise that my first reaction... in which I indicated that [the article] was a joke, was... incomplete. The term 'niggabitch' came from America and we solely used it to describe a style of dress... I should have counted to 10 before taking un-nuanced stands through social media channels... Because my credibility is now affected, it is better for all parties if I quit my function as editor-in-chief effective immediately."

At the time of writing, Rihanna had not responded to Hoeke's resignation.
