The closest Downton's Lady Mary has come to an Irish lad is through her sister's marriage to chauffer Tom Branson, but her real life counterpart Michelle Dockery has only gone and found love with a lad from our neck of the woods.
Michelle, whose daddy was born and raised in Dublin, is said to be smitten with Cork-born Financial PR whizz Tom Dineen, who has been based in London for a while now. Funnily enough sources say it was her on-screen brother in law, Allen Leech, who first introduced her to this lovely lad.
Michelle and Tom were spotted out and about on holiday in Italy this week and certainly looked rather loved up, if we do say so ourselves. Sure how could you not be when you're living it up in Venice?
A source close to Dineen told the Daily Mail that he was rather smitten with his new lady love. "John is also from Ireland and went to University in both Cork and Dublin before coming to London. He is very private and softly spoken but he has really been taken by Michelle" they said.
"Allen is an old friend and appears to have played Cupid. Friends have joked that they must have also been drawn together because of their Irish connections" the source added.
Guess Branson will have to make room for another Irishman so...
