As with a lot of Irish people abroad, it can an ordeal when someone can't pronounce your name correctly - but Domhnall Gleeson isn't having any of it.

Speaking on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, all seemed to be going swimmingly when the host pronounced Domhnall perfectly upon his introduction.

However, after sitting down on the chair, Gleeson recalled a moment on the show a few weeks earlier that he wasn't going to let slide.

Colbert started off with a quip that despite never interviewing the Dubliner before, he was, in fact, on the show performing live with the band from 2014's 'Frank'.

"That's right, we were called the Soronprfbs. The idea was that the band's name was unpronounceable and you nailed it. So you can imagine my dismay when a few weeks ago you had Steve Carell on the show and you said 'Now in this series you are with Domnomnall Gleeson. It was a car crash, it was a mess."

"You can't blame me, Irish names are impossible," replied the host. "Siobhan!?"

But Gleeson was well equipped to win this war. He quickly responded with, "I'm not going to take this from a Colbert," making sure to pronounce the "T" at the end.

Later on in the interview, Colbert mentions that he will have papa Gleeson on the show later on in the week. When he asks Domhnall if he had any ideas for questions to ask him, the 39-year-old responded, "You can ask him why he named me that way."
