Demi Lovato and Maw Ehrich have called it quits.

According to reports, Lovato broke off the engagement as she "doesn't trust" Ehrich.

The couple quarantined together earlier this year. They were dating for four months before getting engaged in July.

When announcing the engagement Demi gushed: "I knew I loved you the moment I met you. It was something I can’t describe to anyone who hasn’t experienced it firsthand but luckily you did too."

A source told People.com regarding the break-up: "It was a tough decision, but Demi and Max have decided to go their separate ways to focus on their respective careers.

"They have respect and love for one another and will always cherish the time they spent together."

E! reports that an insider said that Demi and Max's romance "started going downhill" and they were "arguing a lot" in recent weeks.

The singer was realising "she didn’t know who Max truly was and didn’t think he had good intentions."

Moreover, "there were many red flags she was ignoring and trying to turn a blind eye to."

A second source said Demi "doesn’t trust him and thinks he’s sketchy."

They also believed "he proposed to get attention."

Demi’s friends and family, including her mother Diana De La Garza, were reportedly "warning" her about Max.

They said it was "best" for Demi to end her relationship with the soap star "sooner than later."

The source added that Demi Lovato "really loved him and wanted it to work." She "is really upset and distraught" about the split.
