Sorry kids. Mommy and Daddy tried to work it out after daddy confirmed he more than empathised with his Moody Californication character, but it's just not to be.

Indeed, Hollywood couple David Duchovny and Tea Leoni have called time on their marriage again. It's not all bad though; the couple are reportedly taking time apart but have not yet decided whether to divorce.

Duchovny, 50, and Leoni, 45, first separated in 2008 and the X Files star checked into rehab to battle sex addiction. However, after Duchovny completed a two-month treatment programme, he and his wife reconciled. The pair, who wed in 1997 and have two children together (12-year-old daughter and a nine-year-old son), officially showed the world they were a couple again in 2009, when they stepped out together at the UNICEF Snowflake Ball in New York, not to mention several ball games.

The actor plays sex-obsessed writer Hank Moody in US television drama series Californication, but at the time of his first marriage troubles, it was claimed that Duchovny's problem might not have been the reason for the split. Reports claimed David found text messages on his wife's mobile phone which revealed she was having a relationship with actor Billy Bob Thornton... To help matters at the time, Tea subtly announced he was "maybe my new favourite person in the world."

Thornton, who was previously married to Angelina Jolie (until she started adopting kids - then he decided he was a rock star and gave broadcasters jip who were helping him peddle records), met Leoni when they made a comedy film together called Manure... Which, was probably exactly that as it doesn't appear to have received a release date.
