Since Gangsta's Paradise and I'll See You When You Get There, Coolio's career has pretty much gone off the boil.

He turned up in a number of reality TV shows, including Celebrity Big Brother and Wife Swap, and even turned up in the old tattoo parlour underneath our office here on Great Strand St.

You think we're kidding on that one, but we're actually not. He was getting a tattoo made out of the musical notes from Gangsta's Paradise. Really.

Anyway, last night Coolio - real name Artis Leon Ivey, Jr. - was arrested whilst boarding a plane at LAX for attempting to take a loaded gun onto a flight. Coolio had gone ahead of his friend when the TSA had discovered the bag with the gun, initially believing it belonged to his friend and not him. LAPD later confirmed that not only was the gun loaded, it was also stolen.

Coolio admitted the bag and gun was his and both men were arrested, with bail listed at $37,308. Coolio has since been released and will face trial in the near future.

This isn't the first time Coolio's had a run-in with the law, either. In 1998, Coolio was sentenced to six months probation and fined $17,000 in a German court for being accessory to a robbery causing bodily harm.

Despite winning a Grammy for Gangsta's Paradise, none of Coolio's albums since 2001 have reached any Billboard chart.
