After weeks of speculation, it's increasingly looking like Conor McGregor's next fight is a done deal.

On the back of his 13 second victory over Jose Aldo to become the Undisputed Featherweight Champion, McGregor spoke of his desire to move up to Lightweight and compete for that title. However, he was also keen to stress that he had no intention of giving up his Featherweight Championship in the process. He wants to become a dual champion and defend both titles.

Traditionally UFC have been very much against its champions moving through weight divisions, however, given that McGregor is currently UFC's biggest star (Ronda Rousey aside) it seems like they're willing to let him have his way here.

Dana White spoke on Fox Sports' UFC Tonight about the situation:

“Conor has said he would like to win the 155-pound belt and fight four times a year and defend both belts. If anybody can do it, Conor McGregor can. This guy has done pretty much everything he said he would do so I’m interested.”

So with Dana White on board with the idea, it seemed like McGregor's first fight in the Lightweight division would happen sooner rather than later. However we didn't expect to see things move this fast. According to reporter Jeremy Botter, McGregor is set to leapfrog the entire division and get a title shot against Lightweight Champion, Rafael dos Anjos.

It's rumoured that this card will be announced at the weekend. If true it will be a hell of a show with Holly Holm also slated to defend her title for the first time since beating Ronda Rousey.
