Josh Shaw will miss the opening games of the season for his side, the USC Trojans, thanks to being injured in the offseason, but for the best possible reason.

While attending a family gathering in his home town of Palmdale, California, Josh Shaw was having a good time in the apartment of a family member up on the second floor of an apartment complex. However, at one point he heard shouts for help and looked below to see his nephew in trouble in the pool, with no one around to help.

Without pausing to even consider it, Shaw jumped from the balcony, injuring his legs badly in the process. However, he was able to crawl to the pool, got in and brought his nephew to safety, before eventually pulling himself out too using the ladder on the side of the pool.

In a statement regarding the incident, Shaw said that he would have jumped for any kid, not just his nephew, and while his team have listed him as out indefinitely due to injury, we highly doubt that any of them are giving him anything but congratulations for his amazing act of heroism.
