As if Boston's connection with Ireland wasn't strong enough already, Cathal Pendred has been added to the card for the big UFC event in January.

UFC Boston will have another man flying the Irish flag after Cathal Pendred's next bout in the UFC was announced this morning. Pendred will fight Sean Spencer on January 18th in the event which will be headlined by SBG team mate Conor McGregor, who takes on Denis Siver.

Having been born in Boston, there is a special connection between Pendred and the fans there, and he spoke to Severe MMA about what an amazing night it will be for him personally: "I was able to make my debut in Dublin and experience that as my introduction to UFC. I’ve had another fight after that, so I’m going back home to Boston, where I was born, as an established UFC fighter, two fights and two wins into my career"

With a 2-0 record so far in the UFC, Pendred will look to continue that great run in front of a crowd that will surely be rooting of their hometown boy, and he will also be joined by Paddy Holohan on the card, so it looks like Boston will definitely be going green, white and gold for the night.
