Simon Monjack, Brittany Murphy's 39-year-old screenwriting husband, had this to say of his wife's heart attack at 32 years of age:
"Hollywood broke her heart. Hollywood is a village and once you upset the villagers, they talk and they gossip and they rumour. They have blood on their hands... Let’s set the record straight once and for all. Brittany was not taking any medication for her mood, for anorexia, for any kind of mental illness, it’s utterly ridiculous that these rumours have perpetuated... I’m saying she used Vicoprofin for her menstrual time, and had for years, for five days. At that same time she’d have Sarafem, which is an anti-depressant, for five days of a month because her mood was very difficult at that time. Most of those medications are mine. I suffer from seizures.... She absolutely did not have an eating disorder. You just need to go to her favourite restaurant, Chateau Marmont, and speak to any waiter, who would tell you that she would happily order four plates of food and eat them all."
Yes, and then what would she do? Forgive me, that's nobody's business, one can just let their mind wander if they're so inclined. However, if one finds themselves thinking about taking someone else's anti-depressants for five days every month, that mightn't be the best idea. It might set one's brain on an emotional rollercoaster, and leave them feeling unnecessarily upset over certain things, which, in the grand scheme of things, aren't that big a deal.
"Simon said Brittany was devastated days before she died after an offer to be the voice of Gloria in the sequel to hit cartoon Happy Feet was withdrawn over false rumours she had been fired from another movie... The 32-year-old actress was Gloria in the original penguin film."
