It's fair to say that there's never a dull moment in the life of Britney Spears.

The pop star's most recent controversy has occurred in recent days and involves a very tall basketball player and his bodyguard.

Spears alleges that she was assaulted by the security of Victor Wembanyama (aka 'Wemby') after approaching him in a casino complex in Las Vegas last week.

The French sports star, who at 7ft 5in is the tallest player in the NBA, said that he wasn't aware of what happened as he entered a restaurant.

"I couldn't stop. That person was calling me, 'Sir, sir,' and that person grabbed me from behind," he told a newspaper. "I didn't see what happened because I was walking straight and didn't stop. That person grabbed me from behind - not on my shoulder, she grabbed me from behind."

He added: "I just know the security pushed her away. I don't know with how much force but security pushed her away. I didn't stop to look so I could walk in and enjoy a nice dinner."

Spears then released a statement on social media that explained what happened from her side, saying "Traumatic experiences are not new to me and I have had my fair share of them. I was not prepared for what happened to me last night. I recognized an athlete in my hotel lobby as I was heading to dinner. I later went to a restaurant at a different hotel and saw him again. I decided to approach him and congratulate him on his success. It was really loud, so I tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention."

She continued: "I am aware of the player's statement where he mentions 'I grabbed him from behind' but I simply tapped him on the shoulder. His security then back handed me in the face without looking back, in front of a crowd. Nearly knocking me down and causing my glasses off my face.

I get swarmed by people all the time. In fact, that night. I was swarmed by a group of at least 20 fans. My security team didn't hit any of them."

Footage has since emerged of the incident, which shows Spears running after the 19-year-old, 7ft 5in star and tapping him to get his attention. However, his security swats her away with a backhand and they continue walking.

A shocked Spears then shouts 'That's America for you! Fuck you all!'

Spears said that she would be pressing charges against Wembanyama's bodyguard, but it has since been revealed that no charges will be brought against the unnamed guard, with the police report revealing: "Detectives and I were able to review surveillance footage of the event which showed Britney going to tap the Spurs player on the shoulder.

"When she touched the player [the security guard] pushes her hand off the player without looking which causes Britney's hand to hit herself in the face."

Now, Britney has posted a further update, saying "I’ve been working in the industry for years and have been with some of the most famous people in the world … NSYNC at one point were like The Beatles … girls would throw themselves at them everywhere we went … not one time in my life has a security guard ever hit another person !!! I’m not sharing this to be a victim … I SIMPLY GET IT HONESTLY … "

She added: "...all people could hear was me saying fuck you all … which was WAY BETTER THAN HITTING HIM BACK 🙄🙄 🙄 !!! Either way I’m still a huge fan of the NBA player … it’s not his fault his security hit me … shit happens !!!"
